Have you ever been around certain people that always seem to help you to feel GREAT about yourself! Then there are those people who leave you feeling drained and negative about yourself.

I have a friend who has said to me in the past that in the world there are two types of people that you will encounter throughout your lifetime. There are the ones that GIVE you energy to feed off of and there are the ones that REQUIRE energy that will eventually suck the life out of you. His advice to me was to surround myself with the type of people that give you energy and if you must, keep the ones that require energy from you at a safe distance.

When I heard this advice it became apparent to me how true this statement is. We tend to form so many friendships throughout our lives, but are we really being true to ourselves by connecting with people that are toxic to us?

Many people enter into our lives merely attracted by the light or energy that we give off. Some of those people are from the category mentioned above that bring us nothing but negativity and drain our energy trying to feed their own insecurities.  They latch on to us depleting our energy supplies making us more negative and dimming our light from within.

However, the positive people are the ones that make our lives that much brighter and encourage us to strive only to be the best in all that we do. They are the ones that support us, accept us for who we are, and lift us up to become better. The positivity of people are the things that most of us click with becoming a synergistic force in our lives to empower, motivate and uplift us when we most need it.

It’s very important who we bring into our lives as our support network. It’s this network that infiltrates our entire being helping us to function in our personal, private and public lives.  Surrounding yourself with good and positive people will always help lift you up even when you are having a rough time and can’t do it yourself. These are the people or persons that will give you fuel and refuge when you need it most because they believe in you and know you are capable of bigger and better things.

I always believe better things come to those who wait and sometimes when a door shuts a window opens into our lives bringing better things to us. Everything happens for a reason and sometimes we can’t always see it when it’s in front of our face, but it tends to reveal itself somewhere down the road.

Negative people, on the other hand, tend to drag us down even further because they are not only looking for energy to help lift themselves up, but they are looking for someone to be negative with as well.

So remember when you want to make your life as positive as possible and as the saying goes: “Surround yourselves with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and the thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.”
