HeatherStearns

Heather C. Stearns, General Manager

As a new resident of the Wyoming Valley, Heather Stearns joined the VIVE team with over 15 years of professional operations experience. Born in New England and raised in California, Heather developed a passion for fitness through over ten years of competitive swimming, excelling in water polo as a collegiate athlete and regularly participating in endurance events such as marathons and races with her sister. Exemplifying the highest level of customer service, Heather stresses the importance of an open door policy through interpersonally interacting with her team as well as all members of VIVE.  Through her role as general manager and as a new active member of the Board of Directors for American Heart Association, Heather is not only constantly learning but is also educating others on best practices to achieve a healthy and happy lifestyle. Prior to moving to the Valley, Heather served as the general manager of the Jewish Alliance of Greater Rhode Island, as well as the regional aquatics director at The Bay Club in San Francisco.    


Tom Shaver, Jr., Fitness Director

A graduate of East Stroudsburg University with a B.S in Health and Physical Education, Tom brings a diverse fitness education and work history with him to lead the fitness and training at VIVE. A history as a professional volleyball player and coach, combined with a medically-based fitness program management background gives Tom a well-rounded view of fitness, enabling him and his team to help members reach their goals whether they are improving base-line health or competing in athletic events on any level. Tom has spent more than a decade not only managing fitness facilities, he has dedicated that time toward implementing programs, plans and innovative group exercise classes geared toward helping his staff and his clients be their best. He brings this passion, dedication and support to VIVE every day and helps our members be their healthiest and fittest.

Dana Barley, Personal Fitness Trainer

My passion for fitness began as a love for athletics. At the age of 7, I began playing softball and taking gymnastics at the local YMCA. Upon graduating from high school, I had earned a total of 10 varsity letters in field hockey, gymnastics and softball. Along with many years of experience, I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer, TRX Certified Group Instructor and Certified GRAVITY Instructor. I have worked with a variety of fitness levels. These include children, teens, adults, athletes, couch potatoes, those with physical/mental disabilities and eating disorders. I have helped those with physical ailments and injuries to re-discover their limits. I have trained 50-year-old women through their first figure competitions and coached winning teams to playoffs. Most importantly, I have a passion for fitness and the dedication to help you succeed.

It starts with discipline. It ALWAYS starts with discipline. Discipline does not give you a choice. Discipline does not make excuses. Discipline always prevails. You see, it’s not who you are that holds you back; it’s who you think you’re not.

 

Corey Owen, Personal Fitness Trainer

Corey has an Associate’s Degree in the study of personal training from Pinnacle Career Institute, is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, has a cross country education certificate in evidence-based strength and conditioning, and is certified in VIPR and TRX training.

Corey wasn’t always in the shape he is at currently. Most of his childhood, Corey was out of shape, overweight and down on himself. He first got into fitness through his father who was a Marine and competed in bodybuilding competitions. He got Corey started with a clean diet and a steady resistance and cardio routine. Thus, began Corey’s journey of his lifestyle change.

Corey focuses on a holistic approach to fitness. He studies and participates in martial arts, yoga, resistance training, power lifting, circuit training, running, cycling and basic-to-advanced movement training.

Corey’s goals as a trainer are to take on the challenge of any and all types of clients. He loves helping to change lifestyles for the better! Corey looks forward to working with you on your specific goals based on your current fitness level, health history background and lifestyle.

Brent Oliver II, Personal Fitness Trainer and

Revolution Coordinator

Brent Oliver has held positions at the YMCA, Nanticoke Fitness and Big Bear Fitness. He specializes in teaching individuals who feel intimidated or self-conscious conscious about exercise and takes a well-balanced approach in all areas of fitness to promote active lifestyles.  Brent graduated from Luzerne County Community College with an A.S. in Exercise Science and is certified in Personal Training through ACSM, Fitness Leadership through ISSA and Sports Coaching through CEC.


LindsayMarshall

Lindsay Marshall, Personal Fitness Trainer

Lindsay Marshall  is a Health and Fitness Specialist through ACSM and teaches group fitness classes such as Insanity and Zumba. She enjoys functional training and wants her clients to live the way they intend to without injuries. Lindsay Marshall is a native of Pittsburgh, PA and a 2013 graduate from Slippery Rock University with a Bachelors in Exercise Science and Dance.


Matt Green, Personal Fitness Trainer &

Group Exercise Coordinator

Matt Green is a certified Personal Trainer through NETA and holds accreditations and certifications in Sports Nutrition.  Matt specializes in training athletes to boost strength, speed, agility, footwork and overall conditioning. He is passionate about making exercise fun, providing motivation and instilling determination. Matt has worked with Leverage Fitness Studio in Kingston, PA as a Trainer and has a Bachelors in Sports Marketing from Misericordia University.

Michael Czerniakowski, Personal Fitness Trainer

As a former athlete who played football and baseball and participated in track, Michael understands the importance of equipping others with physical assets beyond aesthetics. He graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology. He is also a certified personal trainer through ISSA. Michael plans to continue his education to become a physical therapist.

Laura Sickler, RDN, LDN, Nutrition Counseling

Laura Sickler has been in the fitness industry for the past 12 years working as a fitness instructor and personal trainer.  She has been a Registered Dietitian for the past 3 years working in her profession of passion helping people make better choices, lifestyle changes concerning mind, body and belly!

 

MaryMcCann

Mary McCann, RD, LDN, Nutrition Counseling

Mary McCann has been a Registered Dietitian for 13 years and worked in Long-Term Care, Rehabilitation and Acute Care clinical settings in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Her passion is to help others reach their nutritional goals through all stages of life and to ensure a lifetime of health and wellness. Mary is currently in the process of becoming a Certified Personal Trainer through ACSM and graduated from the University of Rhode Island, completing her Dietetic internship at Montclair State University in Upper Montclair, New Jersey.

Frank Cawley

Frank Cawley, PT, MPT, Physical Therapist

Frank Cawley is the owner and operator of Cawley Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation with over 14 years of experience involving orthopedic and neurologic disorders. Frank has been in Private Practice since 2003 specializing in spinal, shoulder and knee related injuries with a passion for jaw and headache related issues. He graduated from East Stroudsburg University in 1996 with a B.S. in Biology and received his Masters in Physical Therapy from Hahnemann University in 1999.

Cawley Physical Therapy opened in 2003 and expanded to five sites including Pittston, Scranton, Dunmore, Kingston  (Vive Health and Fitness building) and Nanticoke.
